Security Systems from AugyTek

Most people don’t think about their security systems, or even have them, until something has gone horribly wrong at some point.  Even after a robbery, or worse, has happened most people still cannot justify the cost in their minds.  There are some stereotypical thoughts about security and surveillance systems we would like to dissolve for you.

1.  Security systems aren’t needed where I am, I have never had a problem, or I don’t live or operate in a high crime area.

This is what we refer to as a false sense of security.  This is the human mind assuming that because something hasn’t happened, nothing ever will.

In a 2020 Forbes news report on burglaries, recent updated statistics were very alarming.  There is also a very dismal forecast for an increase in home burglaries, as well as commentary on that burglaries during the day are becoming more prevalent.   2020 Forbes Report

Security systems are the first line of defense and offer a physical deterrent to would be intruders.  Signs and stickers are nice, but what a seasoned criminal is looking for is physical evidence of a security system, such as a camera.  If you have one of those, not only can the scouting burglar see it, you can see them too, and you now have something to give to the police should something happen!

2.  Security systems are expensive, and it isn’t something I can afford now or ever!

While high end security systems with lots of features and state of the art technology can get pricey very quickly, most average grade security systems are quite reasonable. Base tech for camera and perimeter defense systems has greatly increased over the years.  This allows for a great many more options for a more average budget.

In addition to that, most insurance companies now offer discounts for having certain grades of security systems.

Examples:  Homeowner’s, Liability, and even some forms of Auto offer it.

If your present provider offers no discount for security systems, we recommend seeking out a different provider.  There are thousands to choose from, and if you are going to change your security habits, most insurers will welcome you with open arms.  Dropping your risk factor often equates to lower premium costs.

3.  Security systems are just more things that I have to upgrade over the years.  I get nothing out of it.  It’s more hassle than it’s worth.

Depending on the security systems or cameras you get, they could be just fine for many years.  What you get out of it is the peace of mind that if something does go wrong, you have solutions and more importantly, recourse options, at your fingertips.  You are correct in hoping that you never have to utilize the security systems for anything, but what would your thoughts be if something did happen, and now you have no idea what to do?

Consider the hassle of NOT having security systems.  No cameras, no perimeter defense, just a set of locks on doors and windows.  First, you would likely have to replace the door(s) or window(s) that were damaged.  Then you would have to contact your insurance claims department to file and process your claim.  This usually can take about 3-6 weeks to complete.   While doing all this you have to provide statements to the local police, who will be in contact several times.  If there are no leads to go off of, the case can take a back seat to other crimes that have leads.

We won’t go into detail about even more grizzly issues that involve violence and loss of life.

All of this likely could have been avoided by presence of one or more security systems.  If nothing else, you would at least of had another option available to you, during or after such an occurrence.

4.  I have security systems, it’s called my “dog/gun/sword/grenade/nuke” that I keep by my bedside.

Without getting too much into debate about this subject, all of those have one prerequisite in common, you have to be present at the time the break in is occurring.  Not only is this an ineffective security system, it is also a very dangerous one.

Example of security systems that aren’t practical…

A large animal offers little in the way of protection during a home invasion.  Although they will bark and alert and wake the neighborhood, you then rely on an irritated neighbor to contact the police for you if you otherwise can’t.  The average untrained dog has an equal chance to freeze in that situation as an average untrained human does.  It’s scared too.

Weapons of any type are the single most dangerous “security systems” to have.  This is because they can be used against you.  Former military and other trained weapon experts will always say the possibility, however remote, still exists.

If your assailant is armed, the odds they use their own weapon increases if they see that you are also armed.  It then comes down to the old wild west rules of who can draw and react quicker.  If your mind cannot accept that you may not be the quickest draw in the world, you are at extreme risk.   Don’t put yourself and/or loved ones in a situation where you are forced to find out.

5.  Even if I have security systems installed, someone can just destroy it, and it’s expensive equipment to replace.

While this may be true of lower end systems, there are “vandalproof” type cameras and devices that exist.  These devices also only cost slightly more than their standard issue cousins.  AugyTek does offer both types of devices.

Some systems will trigger a panic alarm if tampered with in any way also.

There are also mundane looking base systems that also have wireless backup and battery technology.  If you want a system that cannot be bypassed, they do exist.  These are more expensive than a standard system, but the value of one of these is immeasurable.

The equipment that is shown at this site is professional grade equipment, not the online retail DYI small kits.  With security you get what you pay for.  Cheap locks are cut easily with bolt cutters, while expensive locks are usually not.  The same is true with security cameras and systems.

In other words we do not, and never will, deal in junk that won’t keep you safe.

We have a unique process here at AugyTek for our clients interested in getting a security system from us.  We do not quote prices or even ballpark over the phone.  It is near impossible to do this as every set up and building is unique.  We make an assessment appointment to come out and look at your area that you would like protected.

We then discuss options that work for you.   Camera and system types, features, and address any desires you might have and possible implementation.  All the info is taken into consideration, and then we prepare a formal quote for you.  We do try to offer some flexibility and options with all of our quotes.

There is a $300 fee for this service.  If you purchase a quoted system from AugyTek within 30 days, $300 is deducted from your final bill.  If you decide choose another service provider for the physical install or lapse more than 30 days between quote and install, only $150 will be deducted.  (After 30 days we have to re-quote for price changes on our end.)

The information in the quote are yours to keep even if you decide to go a different route.  Getting this info to another installer will likely speed up the process of your install, as all the site work has been done for them.  In the end, it’s about you and your assets that need protecting.  The faster that gets done, the faster you can enjoy peace of mind.
