Custom Built Systems from AugyTek!
If you believe that you cannot afford a custom built system, you have fallen victim to big corporation marketing. You are not to blame for that either. These companies spend hundreds of millions of dollars per year to ad blast you wherever you go. They target very specific things, such as price or one set of features, in an attempt to make it a deal that sounds too good to pass up. They even put their systems in TV shows and Movies, leading you believe it can do things that may or may not be able to do given the situation.
It would be a nice dream if you can get a durable and capable computer for $500. Sadly that’s all it is, a dream. We at AugyTek refer to these machines as “shelf junk”. These are machines that have been built and are now being offered to the consumer for one or more of the following reasons:
- Overstock in warehouse
- Technology is becoming obsolete
- Move units to bring in new units
- Liquidating assets
The major downside to shelf junk is that once it’s built, that’s what you get.
Technology from the era it was built. This is the main source of the statement: “A computer is out of date right after you buy it.” We find that in most cases upgrades are also very limited if not impossible on these models.
Truthfully, the system is out of date before you buy it. You simply are a victim of impulse marketing. This is why big corporation marketing is so effective. YOU make it work, and YOU convince yourself that it is a great deal, despite many factors that prove otherwise.
There are many nightmares and horror stories that we have put an end to for our clients, but if you are reading this, you are already dealing with such a situation more than likely.
We can help.
AugyTek’s custom built systems are built for YOU. You control every aspect of what you want in the system, and what you want it to do. You also have control over the price range. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for. We have some baseline safety precautions we put in. We won’t sell you a $500 dollar piece of junk. Period. It’s not worth the headache, nor does it do any of our clients any favors. For a couple hundred dollars more, AugyTek can build you something that will last much longer.
Our typical custom build process starts with our client telling us these things so we can create quotes custom tailored for them:
- What they presently do with the computer, or the “need”
- What they would like to do on/with the computer 1-3 years from now (want)
- An amount that is an acceptable price range for their budget
Other minor questions may be asked, depending on each individual’s need. Durability, capability, and warranty of the parts may be a focus also. Typically we tell our clients that 3 year warranties are adequate, because technology often changes within that time frame.
So what are the advantages to having a custom build from AugyTek?
The first and foremost advantage is you have a computer with some resources. Typically our standard or entry level machine is often two to three times more capable and “faster” than your standard shelf junk model.
The next advantage, although some call this the first, is that if you happen to have an issue, we are a local phone call. If we aren’t a local phone call for you, you still get a person that answers the phone, and don’t sit on hold for two hours just to talk to someone with a thick accent halfway across the world.
You also get warranty support. If a part under warranty fails, just bring us back the system and we take care of it for you! No hassle, no worries, no forms. Sometimes we even have compatible loaner parts available that can get you back up and running again while your new part is on the way! If you are unable to bring us back the system we can walk you through removal of the part to ship to us or help you with the RMA process!
AugyTek takes pride in honest business. The downside that we openly state is that we are not the cheapest place to purchase a computer from by any measure. This is because of the superior parts, service, and knowledge we provide. If price alone is enough to make you shop elsewhere, we won’t hold it against you. We don’t want to waste anyone’s time, and we also have many other orders to fill. If you can understand the value in our service and quality, we are the place for you!
So how much does it cost to get a custom built system at AugyTek?
Depending on what you want to spend and what you want the system to do it . Typically the average custom build starts at around $600-$700 and we can build you one as high as $38,000. A decent system that will last you for several years, in both durability and capability, will run about $1,500. That is considered standard technology price point for current technology. For higher end performance and extreme gaming builds, consider this statement we like to use all the time: “If you want a Ferrari, it comes with a Ferrari price tag, not one from a VW Bug.”
Most people also make the mistake of thinking that because a custom build is capable of “gaming”, it costs more. The truth is that most entry level custom builds that are of decent quality are capable of doing some form of gaming. That doesn’t mean you have to use it for gaming. Those resources make other things run smoothly also! So in a nutshell, you are asking us to sell you an extremely reduced quality machine that is not capable of gaming. This is something we just won’t do.
Just because a computer has the adequate resources required to play a video game doesn’t mean it does it well compared to their gaming counterparts. We strive to leave some upgrade possibilities in all of our custom systems. This adds to the longevity of the machine when we can upgrade parts further instead of replace the machine entirely.
Going to the other end of the spectrum, we have a plethora of professional gaming clients that often ask us to make it game better. We at AugyTek are casual gamers ourselves, but more importantly we do research into what works the best, study benchmark results, and ask for specific details of your gaming habits. This allows us to build a system that will prioritize your favored game (profession) and give you an edge over your competition.
Okay, but what if I want a laptop instead, do you custom build those?
AugyTek has the capability to build custom laptops, but that is a very expensive process. The chassis and the board have to match. Then a cooling system has to be matched to the chassis and be compatible with the CPU’s maximum heat output. If we figure in video card(s), and RAM and Hard Drive, you are easily looking at getting into the 4,000 to 5,000 dollar range for all the time and specific manufacturing.
We have a much easier solution. We are partnered with some of the very best manufacturers when dealing with powerful laptop PC’s. The following factors contribute greatly to the price of any miniaturized or compact unit:
- Size of the device; the smaller the size, the greater the heat dissipation has to be.
- True capability of the device; not just one thing it does great, but overall performance gauge.
- Mobility or Portability of the device; the more mobile a device is, the more miniaturized the technology is.
AugyTek can offer a wide variety of capable machines for clients that are custom selected. Although we don’t build them here in the shop, the manufacturers build them to order. Such manufacturers are like Asus, Acer, Equus, and many others depending on what style and type of mobile PC you need. We won’t ever sell you an Alienware, because it’s mostly marketing hype. Dell parts are inside an Alienware machine, and they have a notorious failure rate for a supposedly high quality machine.
Okay, but can’t I just go to the local big corp store and get those?
Without going too far into that question, the answer is no. Some physical stores in the USA will carry the high end machines in stock, but they start aging on the shelf in the store because they have already been built and delivered. Standard junk trial software comes on the machine too. When we look for machines, we are looking at an up to date list of what is available, with up to date technology, and options available upon order.
